Add the Atlanta Falcons to the growing list of teams that want to interview Raheem Morris for their head coaching vacancies. According to Adam Schefter, the Falcons requested permission to meet with Morris about their opening, joining the Chargers, Commanders and Panthers as the fourth team to do so.
No one can interview Morris until three days after the wild-card round, and even those interviews must be virtual. So for the time being, Morris’ sole focus is on helping the Rams beat the Detroit Lions on Sunday night.
Morris spent six years with the Falcons from 2015-2020 before joining the Rams as their defensive coordinator. He held various roles in Atlanta, including assistant head coach, WRs coach, passing game coordinator and defensive coordinator, also taking over as their interim head coach in 2020 after Dan Quinn was fired.
Morris went 4-7 as the interim coach but was not retained by Atlanta. If he were to be hired as a head coach this offseason, it would be his second opportunity in that role after coaching the Buccaneers from 2009-2011.
Falcons requested permission to interview Rams’ defensive coordinator Raheem Morris, per source. Morris was the Falcons’ interim HC for 11 games in 2020. He also has gotten requests to interview for the Chargers. Commanders and Panthers HC jobs.
