'Fake culture': legal body's charity status under fire

An environment litigation group is defending itself as an "essential service" as the federal opposition tries to strip the body of its tax-exempt charity status.

Coalition resources spokeswoman Susan McDonald confirmed on Monday she had referred the "radical" group for investigation over its bid to block a gas export pipeline north of Darwin.
