NAGPUR: Motorbike-borne miscreants posing as police personnel duped four senior citizens of their valuables in separate incidents on Thursday.
The first incident took place near CP Club in Civil Lines when two motorcycle-borne youths stopped one Shreepad Patil (75) who was on morning walk on the pretext of alerting him of a robbery in Civil Lines. One of them offered a piece of paper to Patil for keeping his gold chain and a ring. The duo then sped away with the valuables. Later, Ambazari police was informed.
The second incident took place at around 8.45am near MIDC T-point when the motorcycle borne imposters intercepted one Suresh Bhagat (62, a resident of Urvela Colony, Wardha road) who was returning home after dropping his wife at Lata Mangeshkar Hospital. The bikers told Bhagat that a woman was murdered some metres ahead and assailants are on a looting spree. They used the same trick as in case of Patil and duped Bhagat of his two gold rings and a chain.
The third incident was reported from Manish Nagar at around 9.10am where a retired RBI employee Ashok Kumar Deshbhratar (65, a resident of Chiranjiv Nagar) was relieved of his two rings and a gold chain in a similar fashion.
Fourth incident was reported from Hudkeshwar at around 10am when one Krishnarao Pundalik Bokade (65, a resident of Rajeshwar Nagar) was intercepted by bike-borne youths near Rajapeth bus shelter. Posing as cops, they took his two gold rings and one gold chain. Before he could understand anything, they fled.
City police are carrying out investigation.
