Fairview Park concerts: Punters complain about lack of screens at Phoebe Bridgers gig

Punters at the first in a series of outdoor gigs in Fairview Park have complained about a lack of screens which makes it hard to see the performer.

Phoebe Bridgers kicked off the series of eight concerts that run until the start of July. Dublin Live previously reported on local residents being "up in arms" about the lack of consultation about the gigs.

Fans at the show took to social media to complain about the gig's setup with one person advising others to "bring stilts". A Twitter user said: "If you’re going to a concert at Fairview Park bring stilts and binoculars."

Another said: "I really hope Fairview Park learned from last nights experience and puts more measures in place for the next couple of concerts." A third simply said: "I’ve been to about 20+ concerts and Phoebe Bridgers at fairview was the worst gig I’ve ever been to."

A fourth added: "No screens at the Phoebe Bridgers concert? RIP Fairview Park sounds like a s***e venue". The gate for most of the concerts open at 7pm with the music starting at 8pm.

The concerts have been in the works for months but residents in the North Strand - some of whom live a hundred metres from the stage - did not receive any contact from Dublin City Council or organisers MCD until lunchtime on Thursday when a leaflet was dropped through their doors.

Residents were "up in arms" about the lack of consultation which effectively means they can't plan their lives for the next two weeks. They feared massive crowds of people passing their homes late at night keeping them up at night, sound checks during the day disturbing them working from home, access to the park being cut off and litter being left in their streets.

Dublin Live has contacted MCD for comment.
