Brisbane Lions players won't be allowed to bask for too long in the glory of their 108-point AFL win over North Melbourne with coach Chris Fagan wary of next week's trip to Geelong.
The Lions simply swatted aside the Kangaroos on Saturday, winning 23.18 (156) to 7.6 (48) in an absolute rout at the Gabba.
The victory margin is the biggest in Fagan's coaching career and also the highest score the Lions have kicked under his tenure.
Ever the pragmatist, Fagan was wary of his team celebrating for too long given the Lions next match is a trip to face Geelong at GMHBA Stadium.
The Lions haven't won at the Cats' home ground since 2003, suffering 12 straight defeats there.
"You can't get carried away because we are fronting against Geelong next week and they're damn good," Fagan said.
"We've got to make sure that we don't celebrate and carry on too much about it.
"We've just got to be fairly pragmatic and six days to recover, tough road trip - doesn't get any tougher - so good for us we haven't got too long to bask in glory, I suppose."
For all that was impressive about the Lions, who had 11 different goalkickers in the rout including a career-best five-goal haul to Lincoln McCarthy, Fagan said it was far from a complete display.
The Lions coach highlighted the fact his team lost the clearances to North 46-39 when asked what his team can improve on.
"That's a critical area against Geelong so we've got to be better in that department for sure," Fagan said.
"Obviously when you play them at their ground, the stats say they're very hard to beat down there. We're going to have to play really well.
"We're up for it but we're going to have to play well.
"It's a vastly different task to the one we had (on Saturday)."
