Facing depleted Rangers will still be tough task, says Livingston boss David Martindale

Livingston boss David Martindale knows Rangers will be missing several key players when the sides meet tonight at Ibrox.

While he insists the Lions must look to take advantage of that, he’s well aware of the fact that will be much easier said than done.

Livi have picked up back-to-back wins and clean sheets since their return from the winter break but a trip to Glasgow will be a different proposition altogether - even allowing for the Gers' depleted squad.

Speaking to the West Lothian Courier, Martindale commented: “Going to Parkhead or Ibrox is always really, really tough but they’ve got some key players missing.

“Ianis Hagi is injured, Joe Aribo just came out of the African Cup of Nations, Ryan Kent is suspended, Alfredo Morelos is away with Colombia, Scott Arfield and Steven Davis weren’t involved on Friday night with knocks so they might not be available or at 100 per cent.

“Look, it’s obviously still a difficult task and it’s a squad full of fantastic players but any team that misses three or four of their best players, it’s going to have an impact.”

He added: “I see it as a wee bit of free hit. We’ll approach the game in a manner to try and win it.

“We’ve got a full squad to pick from - although it may come too early for James Penrice with his ankle knock.”
