Signs on a street named after a popular late politician have finally been erected - but his name has been spelt incorrectly. Rhodri Morgan was Wales’ First Minister between 2000 and 2009. Mr Morgan died in 2017, and a street in the Canton area of the Welsh capital was named after him.
However, new signs to mark the honour have been erected with no ‘h’ in Rhodri - spelling his name as ‘Rodri Morgan’.
A picture of one of the signs was shared on Twitter with the caption: “Disappointed to see this unfortunate error on this new street sign - especially after waiting two years to get one!” Mr Morgan’s widow Julie Morgan, herself a Member of the Senedd for Cardiff North, told Cardiff Journalism School she was touched that the street was named after her late husband, but hoped that the error would be corrected.

Cardiff-born Mr Morgan remains Wales' longest serving First Minister, and served as the Assembly Member for Cardiff West from 1999 to 2011 and the MP for the same constituency between 1987 and 2001. He died aged 77 on May 17, 2017 after collapsing while cycling in the Wenvoe area in Vale of Glamorgan.
He was described as "the Father of Wales", Mr Morgan spent more than 30 years in politics . Then First Minister Carwyn Jones said at the time: "In very many ways Rhodri wasn't like other politicians and that is why people warmed to him, trusted him, and felt like they knew him so well."
So, news that signs on the street named in his honour more than raised a few eyebrows - both locally and on social media.
Cardiff Council said it was notified of the error on social media and said: “This road is a private one and the developer is responsible for producing and maintaining the signs.” And in a joint statement with London based developers Lovell, Cardiff Council said: “We have been made aware of the misspelling of Rhodri Morgan Way at The Mill development in Cardiff, which was a result of human error. New street signs have already been ordered and will be installed as soon as possible.”
