Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram DOWN: Social networks and chat app offline in major meltdown

10PM UPDATE: After almost two hours of issues, Meta appears to be getting on top of the WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook problems with things slowly springing back to life. Reports have now dropped and a full service should be resumed soon.

ORIGINAL STORY: If you're trying and failing to access WhatsApp, FaceBook or Instagram tonight you are definitely not alone. The popular social sites, which are all owned by Meta, appear to be having some serious issues with users unable to access any of the platforms or send messages.

The irritating gremlins started at around 8.10pm and are still ongoing.

Down Detector UK, which monitors outages across Britain, has - at the time of writing - recorded almost 15,00 reports across the three apps with downdetector.com registering even more - which makes this a very serious issue.

Of course with Facebook and Instagram offline, fans have now rushed to other sites to vent their anger and frustration.

Twitter is now being flooded by users complaining that they can't access Meta's services.

One named Gail simply asked, "Is Facebook down?"

Whilst Shin added: "WHY IS FACEBOOK DOWN uggghhhh I'm going back to bed"

There's currently no word on what is causing the issue or when things will return to normal but Meta is usually pretty fast at fixing things.
