Meta is set to announce significant job cuts in Ireland later today.
The Facebook parent company will be making hundreds of employees redundant as part of global layoffs that were announced in March. Approximately 500 are expected to be affected by the job losses.
Taoiseach Leo Varadkar said he expected "significant job losses" in Meta's Irish operations earlier in the Dail today. He added that the Government will engage with the company to make sure employees are given decent redundancy packages, Irish Independent reports.

This comes as a further blow to Meta employees who have already experienced a large of layoffs since November last year. In 2022, Meta announced a whopping 11,000 job cuts which resulted in over 300 people losing their jobs in Ireland.
This was followed by a further 50 people being made redundant in March. Meta now employs around 2,600 people in Ireland.
Mr Varadkar said: "Obviously my thoughts are with the staff who are affected, and their families and I want to assure them that we will engage with the company to make sure that they are given a decent severance package or redundancy package, which we would expect all employers to do."
