Facebook users could be in line for a share of a multimillion pay out following a privacy lawsuit.

Facebook's parent company Meta, has agreed to pay out $725million to Facebook users to settle a class action lawsuit over user privacy.
In April 2018, the Mark Zuckerberg owned company said that the personal data of up to 87 million users was improperly shared with British political consultancy firm Cambridge Analytica.
Stemming from the Cambridge Analytica scandal, other lawsuits were filed against Facebook alleging that the company shared users' and their friends' data without seeking permission from them.
The several lawsuits, which later consolidated into one, also claimed that Facebook did not "sufficiently monitor" third parties who were given access to user data.
Facebook has agreed to pay $725million although it admits no wrongdoing and denies all allegations.
In August last year, a settlement was reached and brought to court.
A preliminary hearing of the settlement was held at the beginning of March this year and was granted on March 29.
When the final negotiations had been reached, Meta shared a statement which said: "Over the last three years we revamped our approach to privacy and implemented a comprehensive privacy program."
The company also added that the settlement "was in the best interest of our community and shareholders."
You should be aware that not all of the $725million will go to those who were affected, this is because the money will also be used to cover the costs of administration and legal fees.
You should also be aware that you may not be in for a big payout from the claim if successful.
This is because how much you'll get will depend upon how many other users submit a claim.
If you think you could be eligible for a bit of the cash then you must fill out an online claim form by August 25 2023.
However, only those who are based in the US, or who were living in the US between 2007 and 2022 are entitled to a possible cut of the payout.
If you can also claim if don't currently have a Facebook account but used the social media site between the mentioned dates.
The claim form asks you to provide personal details such as your name, Facebook username, address, phone number, country, and email address - you are also asked to choose the payment method you want your claim money to be paid.
You can also choose to opt out of the settlement if you want to sue Facebook yourself, or you can object to the settlement.
You must do either of those things by July 26, 2023.
