During tonight's Summer Game Fest event, the annual Xbox Games Showcase, we saw a new sneak peek of Fable and finally got word of its release date.
So, we know that Fable is coming February 23, 2027... but that's apparently not all that Playground Games and Xbox Game Studios had to reveal about the long-awaited RPG tonight.
We actually caught wind of the game's first DLC, believe it or not – just have a look at the trailer, and you'll see the short bit toward the end highlighting pre-order and Premium Edition bonuses.
In the little section noting all of the Premium Edition perks, you'll find that folks who buy it – the $99.99 version only, that is, and not the standard $69.99 copy – will get the "first post-launch expansion" for Fable... one that's evidently called Order of the Hero.
That sure sounds like a (potentially unintentional) Fable DLC reveal to me, although it admittedly doesn't tell us much about what the expansion will actually be about. It makes sense, I suppose, seeing as the game itself isn't out yet... and won't be for a good eight months or so.
The other listed Premium Edition goodies include two special cosmetic outfits, the digital artbook and soundtrack, and nine in-game gifts to help us out on our journeys, while a pre-order of the normal version comes with an amusing chicken suit and three freebie items.
This also means that those of us who opt for the normal edition will have to purchase Order of the Hero whenever it might come – but there's no word on how much that may cost.
Regardless, I'm just hopeful that Fable in its entirety is fun – we've been waiting a long, long time, after all.
