Former Tottenham sporting director Ramon Planes has left Spanish club Getafe with Fabio Paratici's own future in north London unclear after his FIFA ban.
Paratici arrived at the Premier League club in 2021 having previously worked at Juventus, who were embroiled in a scandal earlier this season regarding their finances. Football's governing body has extended Paratici's ban, which had originally been confined to Italian football, to worldwide.
It has cast doubt over his future at Tottenham as it's unclear what, if any, duties Paratici will be allowed to carry out whilst in the capital. That could open the door for Planes as the club also seek to appoint a new manager following Antonio Conte's departure.
Pochettino is among those most heavily linked with the Spurs hot seat. The Argentine enjoyed a successful spell in north London, albeit he didn't win a trophy, and remains popular with several players and the fans. He is out of a job a may consider a second stint.
Planes spent the 2014-15 season – Pochettino’s first at Tottenham – in north London and played a crucial part in several notable arrivals. These included Dele Alli and Eric Dier, who went on to become stalwarts during the Argentine's tenure.
Since then, his stock has continued to rise and he's performed impressively in Spain. Elche, Rayo Vallecano and Getafe enjoyed his services before he eventually moved to the Nou Camp. Whilst at Barcelona, he helped sign Pedri and pushed for the promotion of Gavi into the first-team - with the duo emerging as stars in Catalunya - before returning to Getafe last summer.

Planes is weighing up his next move, with a return to Tottenham very much a possibility. A move back to the capital could prompt Pochettino to follow him, with Daniel Levy seeking his fourth manager in four years. Reports claim the Spurs chairman has already contacted Julian Nagelsmann.
Levy is under mounting pressure with the club failing to thrive on the pitch in the same way they do off it. Their last piece of silverware came in 2008 and they've failed to make the most of top-drawer managers like Conte and Jose Mourinho.
Harry Kane's future is also far from clear and could be a major factor in any potential manager taking the role. The striker is about to enter the final 12 months and is yet to win a trophy in his career, with Manchester United among those keen on his signature.
