Fabio Paratici already being proven right over £60m Tottenham transfer after Richarlison claim

There is just over a week left of the summer transfer window and it has already been a busy one for Tottenham. Antonio Conte has welcomed six new players to his squad, with Destiny Udogie becoming the seventh signing, although the youngster has been loaned back to Udinese for the rest of the season.

The Italian has also seen a number of his players move on, as he looks to build the strongest possible squad, for the 2022/23 campaign. There have been a number of players who have been linked with a move to N17, including Daniel James and Ruslan Malinovskyi.

After Tottenham's 1-0 win against Wolves on Saturday, Conte admitted that if a player leaves, another must come in and replace them. However for now, the Italian has to focus on continuing to improve the squad he has.

Richarlison became Spurs' fourth signing of the summer, at the beginning of July. The Brazilian made the £60million move from Everton, where he was loved by fans and played a key part in keeping them in the Premier League last season.

The 25-year-old had a one-match ban, so was not involved in the opening game of the season against Southampton. However, in Tottenham's draw against Chelsea and victory over Wolves, Richarlison came on and made an impact.

The ex-Everton man has had his fair share of criticism over the years, often being described as a player you hate when they are on the opposing team, but love when they are one of your own. Earlier this year, Richarlison was recalled to the national squad, after not being selected since last summer.

The Brazilian responded to critics who had suggested he had only been chosen because of his looks and demanded more respect. "I'm not here because I'm cute!" Richarlison claimed.

"I was feeling sad, because I was out [of the squad] because of an injury that was serious. And many reporters and commentators already saw me as being outside the World Cup picture. And I was calm because I know my talent, my potential.

"Like it or not, I already have a history here with the national team shirt. I think you should also have a little respect too, we work hard, we work seriously. I was totally calm," he added.

This clearly shows the ambition the 25-year-old has and his self belief, which will have been welcomed in his arrival at Tottenham. Just a couple of weeks ago Richarlison was faced with more criticism, this time from Kevin Campbell, who featured on the Highbury Squad's Monday madness, on YouTube via HITC.

"Speaking of weird, Richarlison going to Tottenham, I am not having that!" he explained. "I loved Richarlison at Everton, but him going to that lot, I am not having it.

"I’m with Dan [that Richarlison will flop]. I can’t see him getting in the team, to be honest. I think just because he’s not going to be able to force his way fully into the side, then he’s going to be classed as a flop," Campbell added.

There is a long way to go, but the attacker has already started to prove Campbell wrong. In both of his league appearances for the Lilywhites so far, Richarlison has come on in the second half.

In both of his features, he has added energy and aggression. Against Chelsea, he was an extra body in the attack, which threw off the Blues' defensive tactics which had been working so well.

Against Wolves, the Brazilian made a couple of good runs and had a shot go just wide. This has been just a glimpse of what the 25-year-old can do, but he is already trying to make a case for why he should be in Conte's starting XI.

It was never going to be easy for Richarlison to move to the capital and walk straight into the team. However the quality he has already started to show is all the Italian could've asked for.

Richarlison hasn't been in north London long, but more work with his new teammates and a world-class manager, things are only likely to keep improving. There is a long season to go, with a busy fixture schedule, but the Brazilian has already made a good start.
