Fabio Carvalho sent warning over Liverpool transfer from Fulham

Fabio Carvalho should swerve joining Liverpool this summer and either go elsewhere or stay at Fulham, according to Gabriel Agbonlahor.

The Reds came close to capturing promising attacking midfielder Carvalho on January transfer deadline day before running out of time to complete the deal. Jurgen Klopp remains in pole position to bring the 19-year-old to Anfield at the end of the season, but former Aston Villa forward Agbonlahor does not think he will get enough game time amid a plethora of proven stars.

Speaking to Football Insider, he said: “If I was him, I wouldn’t go there because you’re not going to play. Why would you go to Liverpool now? Where do you fit him in? Does he want to just play the Carabao Cup games? He’s not going to start in that team, there are too many better players.

“If I was him I would go to a Premier League club where he’s going to play. Even stay at Fulham where he’s going to get a chance to play in the Premier League next season. That’s what he would be best off doing. He’s not going to get the game time at the moment at Liverpool."

Carvalho has made 31 appearances for Fulham this season, scoring eight goals and helping the West London club to maintain their healthy position at the top of the Championship. Marco Silva's side need just three more wins to secure an immediate return to the Premier League.

The teenager is out of contract in the summer and is expected to be subject to offers from a host of top clubs, both in England and across Europe.
