Fabio Carvalho drops major hint over Liverpool future in cryptic Instagram messages

Liverpool midfielder Fabio Carvalho has posted a cryptic message just hours after it emerged that the Reds had rejected a bid for the Portuguese youngster.

The ECHO understands that an unnamed club also had an offer turned down. There are intentions of keeping the former Fulham man at Anfield amid uncertainty over his position in the squad.

In the second-half of the season, the 20-year-old found his playing time in the first-team numbered, starting just one game since Christmas and being consigned to just one appearance from the bench since last month.

Hours after it had emerged that Carvalho became subject to interest from the unnamed club, the midfielder posted on Instagram with a series of pictures from a shoot with the chain emoji as the caption.

His social media post courted responses from Liverpool teammates such as Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Harvey Elliott and Rhys Williams. As well as the Reds, there was a comment from Manchester United winger Anthony Elanga.

The Sweden international said: "Fresh home...," to which Carvalho replied: "Soon".

Former Cottagers youngster Ryan De Havilland also weighed in with his opinion on the series of images posted by the match-winner against Newcastle United.

"Next top model," was the response from the Barnet midfielder with a heart eyes emoji prompting Carvalho to say: "All I do now."

Jurgen Klopp praised the 20-year-old ahead of their Premier League curtain closer against Southampton. While the German lauded the summer arrivals training work-ethic, there was a hint that a loan move could be a possibility, he said: “I think there is a maybe a possibility Fabio goes on loan but the thing is this was not Fabio’s best year in his career, clear, but it might have been his most important.

"No player has impressed me more than Fabio, it is the truth. This talented boy came here with big dreams and big expectations and it didn’t work out – it was okay in the beginning but it didn't work out in the end.

"But his work ethic will give him a fantastic career because he trained with getting nothing. Players have only one issue each week: you line me up or you put me in the squad. It's the only thing to satisfy a player. If I don't do that it is about how the player reacts and his reactions – in a row - I never saw before. Unbelievable. I'm not sure if he will go on loan but if we keep him we will see that."
