Fabio Capello makes 'inevitable' claim about Cristiano Ronaldo's future at Manchester United

Former England boss Fabio Capello has given his verdict on Cristiano Ronaldo's controversial interview.

The Manchester United forward sat down for a surprise interview with former Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan, with a whole host of topics discussed during the lengthy chat. One of the more eyebrow-raising comments came when Ronaldo claimed he did not have respect for United boss Erik ten Hag.

Many believe he has ended his Old Trafford career and that Ten Hag is now within his rights to ostracise the 37-year-old when United resume their campaign following the World Cup break.

Capello, speaking to Sky Sport Italia, gave his opinion on the prospect of Ronaldo leaving in January. He said: “There is a lot of talk about him probably choosing a way out also because this time he is not on the stronger side.

“United has history, the club wants to defend it, Ronaldo was not considered important, so he is losing some appeal. Making a decision will be inevitable."

Ronaldo's contract expires at the end of this season, though United do hold the option to extend his deal by a further 12 months. At this point in time, that seems highly unlikely.
