Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz has reportedly made his feelings on Arsenal clear amid links of a summer transfer to the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners are short of options in the middle of the park given Mohamed Elneny is into the final four months of his contract at the club whilst Granit Xhaka continues to be linked with a move to Serie A side AS Roma.
football.london reported last month that the Swiss international is open to joining the Italian outfit at the end of the current campaign if a move can be thrashed out despite penning a new deal in north London last year following a plethora of speculation surrounding his future.
Arsenal have since been linked with a move for the aforementioned Ruiz and according to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, Newcastle United offered just under €50million (£41.9million) for the Spaniard.
However, it is claimed that he wants to return to one of the top clubs in Spain but would consider a move to the Gunners if he was to head to the Premier League, with the Magpies reportedly not an option for the player.
Ruiz's deal with Napoli is set to expire in the summer of 2023 and he has admitted that interest from the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid is flattering.
"It’s flattering to hear about these clubs' interest in me, that's for sure," he said last month when asked about reported interest from the two La Liga giants.
"Right now, I only think of Napoli, I am very comfortable here and we have big challenges ahead. The idea of returning to Spain in the future is always present: it is my home."
