Fabian Rieder completing a big money transfer to Celtic would be a 'wow' signing and kick off a new era at Parkhead.
That's the verdict of Stephen McGinn who reckons going all in with a big £14-15million transfer fee would show that the Hoops are serious about going to that next level as Brendan Rodgers aims to make a splash in the Champions League this season.
The 21-year-old is attracting lots of interest from across Europe in his services after helping Young Boys lift the Swiss League title last season - alongside former Rangers hitman Cedric Itten - while he also feaured at the World Cup Finals in Qatar for Switzerland with appearances against both Cameroon and Brazil in the group stage. During the last campaign he netted seven league goals and provided five assists while he also notched two strikes in the Swiss Cup and set up five in that competition.

The Scottish champions have already lost key man Jota to Al-Ittihad after the Saudi Pro League side splashed out a big fee to land the winger after just two seasons in Glasgow. However, the Hoops have been handed a MAJOR boost by Kyogo Furuhashi penning his long-term future to the club with a deal in place until at least 2027.
On Rieder and that next level type signing, pundit McGinn told the Go Radio Football Show: "With all the talk of Brendan Rodgers and taking them to the next level in Europe it's probably the first signing that suggests that. Some of the players that have been suggested and have been signed so far are the type of signings Celtic have been making in the last five or six years.
"I think Reider is one of those next level signings. I think as far back as 25 years the signing limit for Celtic has been around that £5-£6million mark.
"It would take upwards of £14-£15million to sign Reider and it's the 'wow' signing that shows that it's not a fantasy about taking Celtic to the next level and the board saying 'we have the money here so to make that progression we are not just going to sign the projects, we are going to sign the next level projects'.
"It's the first player of this kind of new vision of taking Celtic to the next level."
