FA unveil UK and Ireland bid to host Euro 2028 as 10 stadiums confirmed

Harry Kane is fronting the Football Association’s joint Euro 2028 bid after they confirmed the full details of the campaign.

England captain Kane is pictured with fellow skippers Séamus Coleman, Steven Davis, Andy Robertson and Aaron Ramsey from republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales respectively.

They have also confirmed the stadiums to host the joint tournament with Wembley, Cardiff National Stadium, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City, Everton, St James' Park, Villa Park, Hampden Park, Dublin Arena and Belfast’s Casement Park.

The joint bid is up against Turkey, who are also bidding for Euro 2032, which Italy are looking to host. FAs having full support from the British Government with upwards of £2.6billion income from tourism, business and commercial revenue.

FA chair Debbie Hewitt said in the package presentation: “Our pioneering five-way partnership will deliver a record-breaking and unforgettable Euros.

“We will work tirelessly to be the best partners for UEFA and to deliver on every one of our shared prioritries.

“We will focus on growing football, connecting with and angaging new fans, players and volunteers.

“We continue to invest £50m annually into grassroots football development across our five Associations.

“Together we want Euro 2028 to be the catalyst for a new and sustainable era for football from the grassroots to the very top of the European game.”

Other key parts of the presentation include:

• UEFA EURO 2028 will generate cumulative socio-economic benefits of up to £2.6 billion (€3billion) for our nations.
• Bid Partners have already invested or committed more than £500 million (€567 million) between 2019 and 2025 to improve and upgrade grassroots facilities – with the aim of expanding investment programmes as UEFA EURO 2028 approaches.
• A further £45 million (€51 million) legacy fund will be invested to develop football and create additional legacies
• The tournament will help create positive long-term community impact through volunteering, tourism and other training opportunities that provide people with skills for life.
• High-capacity, famous football grounds and state-of-the-art venues will provide the platform for the biggest and most commercially successful UEFA EURO ever – making us a low risk, high reward host:
• Almost three million tournament tickets available – more than any previous UEFA EURO.
• Average stadia capacity of 58,000 so more fans than ever before will attend matches.
• Matches hosted around our nations and regions to reach as many communities as possible.
