F1 Manager 2022: 5 real world dilemmas we can’t wait to tackle

Coming this summer to Xbox, PlayStation and PC, Frontier Developments’ F1 Manager 2022 is a fully licensed take on being a team principal at the summit of motorsport. It’s the first in a multi-year deal for the management game specialist, and we’re basically humming with excitement for it.

Not since Playsport Games’ excellent Motorsport Manager in 2017 have we been treated to an all-out simulation of F1’s every aspect outside of mobile gaming, and even then it didn’t carry any official licenses.

It set our minds whirring as to the tasks facing the biggest teams in the next few seasons. As 2022 brings in a set of rule changes that dramatically alters the look of the cars, who knows where everyone’s performance levels will be at race 1, and by the end of the season?

It’s a chance for big wins to be gained via smart decisions and sneaky designs, and when someone moves up the order in F1 someone else has to move down. Frankly, I’m glad I’m not in charge of those decisions in the real world. I deliberated plenty about which teams to include in this feature – I would not do well when faced with a multi-million dollar decision in a design meeting. Bt thanks to the transformative powers of video games, soon you and I will both be able to experience what that’s like in a safe, consequence-free environment. Here are some head-scratchers we’ll be faced with.
