Charles Leclerc has Max Verstappen on his tail for the first time in the 2022 season ahead of the Miami Grand Prix.
Formula One headed to the States for its debut in Florida with the Ferrari star holding a 27-point lead in the F1 Drivers’ Championship over the defending world champion, meaning he will leave Miami in first position no matter what.
Leclerc claimed pole position ahead of teammate Carlos Sainz and Verstappen on Saturday, setting up a mouthwatering first-ever F1 race around the Flordia street circuit.
And the Dutchman flew through to take the win and fastest lap point. After the race, a penalty for Fernando Alonso dropped him out of the points.
