Charles Leclerc claimed both the race win and fastest lap point to kick off his 2022 Formula One season in fine style.
A remarkable Ferrari one-two was secured in Bahrain after the Monegasque driver followed up his pole position with victory, and Carlos Sainz came home behind him thanks to Red Bull’s calamitous finish.
Both Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez suffered DNFs after suspected fuel issues late in the race, allowing Lewis Hamilton to finish third despite Mercedes starting the year on the back foot.
There were also strong finishes for Kevin Magnussen on his surprise return to the grid with Haas, plus Guanyu Zhou on his F1 debut for Alfa Romeo.
