Eye contact with potential sexual partners could reduce the risk of catching a common STI, according to UK online pharmacy Chemist Click.
While booking regular STI tests is advised by medical experts for those who are sexually active, there is one sign to look out for before getting under the sheets with someone. According to Chemist Click, eye discharge can be a sign of genital herpes which, according to the WHO, affects an estimated 491 million people between the ages of 15-19 globally.
This is known as herpes keratitis and can happen to both men and women. One or both of the eyes may experience pain or sensitivity which can result in discharge. Other indicators are cold sores or blisters on the mouth, lips and genital areas.
