Extensive council housing construction is going on at a number of sites across Irvine and Kilwinning, councillors have been told.
Under the strategic housing investment programmes, new social housing sites are being built at Corsehillhead, Kilwinning; and Bourtreehill, Ayrshire Central and Fullarton Street in Irvine, a cabinet meeting heard last week.
North Ayrshire Council leader Marie Burns welcomed a report detailing the projects which are part of the regeneration delivery action project.
She said: “This is a very comprehensive report, there’s a huge amount in it, a lot of projects with a lot of work put into them.
“The thing that’s really gratifying is the whole range of external funding we are able to get. The team put a lot of effort into this.”
Also on the cards is the redevelopment of the King's Arms, Irvine, to deliver amenity flats.
The next phase of house building at Montgomerie Park will see two sites developed and the sale of a retail site and marketing land.
New community schemes will be developed, including physical regeneration, funding applications and asset transfer processes; and delivery including Ardrossan Promenade.
Council chiefs will investigate the potential to upgrade grass pitch provision and the implementation of any recommendations to allow the completion of the Quarry Road project in Irvine, alongside KA Leisure.
A programme is also underway to support the Ardrossan campus including delivery of a programme to support its completion.
Between 2023 and 2025, delivery of the region’s share of the £251 million Ayrshire Growth Deal programme including manufacturing space and a digital hub at i3 in Irvine; the international marine science & environmental centre at Ardrossan; and centre for research into low carbon energy circular economy at Hunterston is expected.
Also planned is the development of island marina projects and the Great Harbour project in Irvine.
The completion of phase one of the Lochshore Park masterplan is expected, including a 5km circular loop, provided funding is secured.
A funding package for Ardrossan Harbour works will see the finalisation of a funding package and partner agreement with a contract for the building works awarded.
Meanwhile, the B714 upgrade full business case and design processes, including submission to the UK Government, is on the agenda.
Plans are underway to deliver the Active Travel Hub and Travel Smart programme at Trinity Church in Irvine from 2023 to 2026.
