Explained: How India's import of Russian oil is part of inflation management

NEW DELHI: India's share of Russian oil import jumped to 12-13% since February, even amid multiple sanctions by different countries on Moscow.

After Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, many Western companies and countries shunned purchase of Russian crude oil. Especially, the United States and its allies have leaned on countries to buy less Russian oil, in a bid to punish Russia for its aggression.
