Mitch McConnell's prolonged disappearance from public view has sent speculation into overdrive, with a podcast host dramatically claiming the 84-year-old senator 'may be dead' or incapacitated because his staff have stopped providing regular updates.
The extraordinary claim, however, is not supported by evidence. McConnell's office has confirmed that he suffered a fall in June, was briefly unconscious, developed mild pneumonia during his hospital stay and later spent weeks in rehabilitation.
