A pharmacist has warned of the negative effects drinking diet coke could have on the body after just one hour. Like most food and drinks, drinking Diet Coke poses very little health risk in moderation.
However, past studies have shown that drinking beverages with artificial sweeteners, like Diet Coke, can contribute to weight gain. Further research shows that drinks containing fake sugars can affect more than just weight.
A study published in the journal Current Atherosclerosis Reports, also warns that such drinks could be contributing to the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. The effects of drinking a can of Diet Coke can apparently be seen in just one hour, with an impact seen 10, 20, 40, and 60 minutes after finishing that last sip, reports the Mirror.
