An astronomical expert has attempted to clear things up in regards to the 'fireballs' that were spotted streaking across the Irish night sky on Wednesday evening.
Locals who looked to the stars noticed green specks going from east to west with people across the island taking to social media to ask what the story was.
It wasn't just Irish people who were confused either, with the UK Meteor Network getting more than 800 reports from people in England and Scotland as well as Northern Ireland.
