People have been warned to beware of Britain's "most dangerous plant" after it was found growing in Wirral.
Giant hogweed, which can cause horrendous blistering and even blindness, has been sighted on Jacks Wood Avenue in Ellesmere Port. The plant, which can be identified by the hairs and purple blotches on its stem, harbours toxic sap which can be extremely dangerous when it comes into contact with bare skin.
Earlier this week, the Manchester Evening News reported the plant had left a child in Bolton with second-degree burns, and now local plant expert, Carly Furlonger, is encouraging people in Wirral to be aware of the risks posed by the plant.
