Expert explains what ibuprofen and paracetamol should be used for

The differences between two of the most commonly used over the counter medications have been explained by a medical expert. A pharmacist has taken to TikTok to advise people on how to correctly use pain relief, mainly paracetamol and ibuprofen.

With cold and flu rife during these colder months, people have been eager to source the correct medication to help relieve the symptoms. And the handy medical advice issued by @HealthwithNyrah has been proving very popular with her growing TikTok followers.

She shared a short clip on the online platform to explain that paracetamol should be used for "mild or moderate pain". She added: "It may be better than ibuprofen for fever and stomach aches." The content creator also said people suffering with liver disease should avoid paracetamol, Liverpool Echo reports.

She also shared a list of conditions when it is best to take Ibuprofen. Nyrah said: "Ibuprofen is good for migraines, period pain, toothaches and muscle sprains (muscoskeletal system). If you have kidney disease, stomach ulcers or asthma it's best to avoid ibuprofen."
