Expanding Lanarkshire dairy farm aims to deliver fresh milk to your doorstep

A family-run Lanarkshire dairy farm that launched a delivery business during lockdown is now aiming to bring fresh milk direct to your doorstep – all while helping to save the planet.

Park Farm is nestled in the Auldhouse countryside, on the outskirts of East Kilbride and is run by three generations of the Neilson family, who have been dairy farming for more than fifty years.

The family set up a new company during the pandemic called ‘What’s Fresh’ to deliver fresh goods from independent producers to local customers when everyone was encouraged to stay at home.

What’s Fresh continued to expand its offering and has recently invested in a new purpose-built milk bottling facility.

The aim of the business is to bring fresh, quality milk from Park Farm direct to local doorsteps, alongside other local produce.

The new milk deliveries boast ultra-low food miles and reusable one litre glass bottles to cut down on single-use plastics and reduce emissions.

What’s Fresh will also provide business deliveries to local cafe’s, restaurants and coffee shops.

Ross Neilson said: “The aim of What’s Fresh is to bottle our own quality, fresh milk and deliver to families and businesses in East Kilbride and surrounding areas.

"Customers now rightly want to know the provenance and traceability of their food.

"Our milk only travels a few metres from the farm to the new dairy so we can be completely transparent with our customers and show them exactly where their milk is coming from and how it is processed – even down to meeting the cows!

"We’re also prioritising sustainable packaging and operations. Annual UK emissions from food manufacture, distribution and retail are equivalent to 15 million tonnes of carbon so with low food miles, returnable glass bottles and reduced food waste, we can do our bit to combat that.”

What’s Fresh will launch its Farm to Doorstep milk rounds in June and will deliver to customers twice weekly; mainly servicing East Kilbride, Strathaven and surrounding areas.

Customers can sign up now and check their postcode for delivery here.

As a special launch promotion, anyone who signs up will get 50 per cent off their first four orders.
