Exclusive! Pulling myself out of depression without speaking about it to anyone for years was tough, says Vineet Singh

Once a rising star, singer-songwriter Vineet Singh, who hails from Lucknow, is presently playing the second innings of his career. The Dil Rang De singer, who was the first runner-up in the singing reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Singing Superstar in 2005, has shocked everyone by participating again as a contestant in the reality show Indian Idol 13.

“I believe that my first innings ended due to some major mistakes made by me and a few decisions that went against me. Not many know but I actually refused numerous playback singing offers and musical TV shows as I felt it wasn’t the right for me to do these things at that time. In fact, I even refused some really amazing songs that were offered to me by Himesh Reshammiya sir when I was assisting him. Instead, I used to suggest names of others who could sing those songs because I wanted to remain faithful to my music.”
