Excitement building ahead of 2023 Kirkcudbright Riding of the Marches

Excitement is building ahead of this year’s Riding of the Marches in Kirkcudbright.

Cornet Scot Milligan, Cornet’s Lass Amie Blower, Pursuivant Christine Findlater and Lynors Fraser Morrison, Nikki MacFarlane, Eden McCulloch and Thomas Jardine are thoroughly looking forward to leading the cavalry round the boundaries of Kirkcudbright as referred to in the charter granted by King James II in 1455.

And they are looking forward to welcoming supporters on horseback as well as on foot.

First up is the Kirkin’ of the Cornet at Kirkcudbright Parish Church at 11am on Sunday, July 9. This will be followed by brunch at the church hall from 1pm to 4pm. Tickets cost £10 and everyone is welcome.

On Wednesday, July 12 there is a bingo night at Kirkcudbright Bowling Club from 7pm, with everyone encouraged to attend.

The following night the principals will visit local care homes and supported living homes.

The Riding of the Marches takes place on Friday, July 14. Riders should park and assemble by 6.45pm at the Smith Field. Lead rein only to park at Dee Walk.

The Cornet’s Ball takes place at The Cocoabean, Twynholm at 7.30pm on Saturday, July 15. Tickets cost £40.
