Exact date Leeds will heat up as cold snap set to end after weekend of snowfall

The country has been facing freezing temperatures and snow for the past week as the Met Office predicts more to come over the weekend. Leeds has managed to avoid the snow so far, though the mornings have been frosty and gritters have been out in full force.

Snow is also forecast for Leeds on Sunday. The adverse weather has caused traffic disruptions and rural communities could face being cut off according to the Met Office's latest warning. However, the temperature will begin to rise, recent forecasts show that across Yorkshire on Monday, temperatures will reach highs of 13C.

The Met Office forecast for Saturday to Monday will see some sleet and snow but the weather will turn milder with brief periods of snow. Monday will bring some snow turning to rain with heavy winds predicted.

In Leeds, temperatures are set to rise to around 13C, with a mostly cloudy day forecast and some overcast spells in the mid-afternoon. Temperatures will begin around 10C and 11C before rising, they will then drop down into the late evening and night time.

The Met Office outlook for Saturday to Monday, says: "Cloudy Saturday with outbreaks of rain, sleet, and hill snow. Windy and becoming milder Sunday, with a period of snow turning to rain. Remaining windy Monday with showers of rain."

The recent yellow weather warning is in place for all of Yorkshire, including Leeds, meaning there could be travel disruptions and icy surfaces. Local police and ambulance services have asked families to check on elderly and vulnerable relatives as the cold weather continues.
