As the cost of living crisis continues to put pressure on the pockets of millions, councils across the UK have been given cash from the Government to offer help to the most vulnerable.
The Household Support Fund was recently given an extra £421million to help people meet daily needs such as food, clothing and utilities.
The scheme has been extended until March of next year, with each council offering different levels of support.
This means that it can be a postcode lottery on what help people can access with some local authorities offering cash support to help you pay your bills.
Doncaster Council is offering its residents a chance to claim up to £310 depending on their household situation.
In this specific area, the local council will award the funding as a single payment to households with more than three dependent children.
The level of funding decreases depending on the number of household members and the deadline for applications in Doncaster is February 28, 2023.
Bradford City Council will offer £65 payments to those who are receiving the Council Tax Reduction. If there are children in the household, an additional payment of £20 for every child will be made.
Payments for eligible households should have been received by December 13.
North Yorkshire County Council is offering payments of up to £325 and residents will receive a letter if they're eligible by January 16, 2023.
People living in Shropshire could be able to claim a one-off payment of £180 if they are struggling and to claim people will need to meet the criteria of Shropshire Council.
West Devon Borough Council announced this month that its Household Support Fund would provide payments of £650 to working-age households who receive a council tax reduction but are not claiming certain benefits.
If you're eligible, you should have received the cash on December 1.
The Government told councils that they should consider how they can support vulnerable households who have not received other financial support, in particular, prioritising households that have not received any of the previous cost of living support payments.
According to the rules of the fund, local councils will have to have spent the entirety of their allocated funding by the end of March and they will be unable to carry over the cash if they haven’t spent it all.
People can apply for the fund directly through their local council and the eligibility criteria vary between them and can be found on their website.
