Former Sunderland skipper George Honeyman will be following his boyhood club's play-off push from afar tomorrow - and says he will be at Wembley if the Black Cats make it to the final. Midfielder Honeyman came through the ranks on Wearside and captained the side at Wembley when they reached the play-off final in 2019 under Jack Ross' management.
Their promotion chances were dashed when they lost against Charlton Athletic on that occasion, and later that summer Honeyman left to join Hull City. The 27-year-old will be in the South West tomorrow preparing for the Tigers' game against Bristol City but will be keeping an eye on Sunderland's final day game at Morecambe, which kicks-off at 12.30pm, as the Black Cats look to secure a place in the play-offs for a third time in four seasons.
And if Sunderland do finish in the play-offs, and make it to next month's final, Honeyman intends to be there cheering them on as a fan. "Absolutely I will (be following the game at Morecambe)," he said.

"I'll be on the hunt for tickets if they go down Wembley Way again! 'll see how they go.
"I can't believe how tight it is, even goal difference itself is going to be nail-biting. It's enjoyable watching on as a fan, these days."
Academy graduate Honeyman made his Sunderland back in February 2015, and went on make 97 appearances for the club and score 15 goals in all competitions before moving to Hull.
