Pete Carroll Wants An NFL Job For Christmas

2025 will be a year of new beginnings.  72-year-old Bill Belichick is headed to the NCAA to become a head coach.  And 72-year-old former Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll has dropped a Christmas revelation that indicates his coaching days are not over.

Some thought Pete Caroll might return to the NCAA ranks because he is one of just four coaches to win an NCAA National Championship and a Super Bowl.

However, Carroll wants to stay in the NFL.  According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, he has shown interest in coaching the Chicago Bears in 2025.

The 4-11 Bears fired head coach Matt Eberflus last month.  The team will be in the market for the franchise’s 19th head coach.

What Pete Carroll Brings To The Chicago Bears

Carroll knows how to win.  His resume proves it.

He also can develop young quarterbacks like he did with Russell Wilson in Seattle.  Rookie quarterback Caleb Williams could benefit from his expertise.

NFL Coaches Are Getting Younger

The NFL coaching ranks are getting younger with offensive minds being the dominant characteristic.  If anything deters the Bears, it could be Carroll’s age.  However, he has a lot of vitality and energy.  The days of Buddy Ryan and other defensive minds being NFL coaches have passed.

With Belichick and Carroll not in the NFL coaching ranks in 2024, there are no coaches over 70.

Six NFL coaches are 60 or older, with the oldest being Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid at 66.
