Former Denmark boss Kasper Hjulmand - who has been linked with replacing Steve Clarke as Scotland boss - has agreed to a £2 million compensation package from Bayer Leverkusen after he was sacked.
And his time at the Bundesliga club was criticised by ex-Rangers star Malik Tillman. SFA chiefs are closing in on a new manager following the departure of Clarke after Scotland's underwhelming World Cup campaign this summer in the USA.
Hjulmand was linked to the job and has been consistently high up in the betting markets to take charge of Scotland, where he would be just the second-ever foreign manager to be Scots boss.

And he is now free and available after settling his severance package with Leverkusen - he walked away with £2 million after he was axed in June when he still had a year left of his deal. Leverkusen finished in sixth place and missed out on Champions League qualification.
And the 54-year-old's time in charge wasn't appreciated by Tillman, who cost the club £30 million and had a loan spell at Ibrox four years ago. Tillman, who scored two free kicks for the USA at the World Cup, said: "I guess I never really settled in. It's fair to say now that things weren't quite right between the manager and me.
"I didn't have any fun. I don't think the management was behind me, and communication between us certainly could have been improved."
