Ex-Rangers player assists Inverness with pre-Celtic Scottish Cup final friendly

Billy Dodds' Scottish Cup prayers have been answered as Inverness aim to up their preparations ahead of their showpiece showdown with Celtic.

Inverness will take on Ange Postecoglou's side on Saturday, June 3 at Hampden to fight it out for the final silverware of the campaign.

However, having not qualified for the Premiership play-offs, Caley Thistle suffered a blow in their bid to win the cup as it was confirmed they would go four-and-a-half weeks without a competitive game.

However, they have at least managed to find some opposition to help them prepare and maintain the players' fitness levels.

They will take on Dungannon Swifts this Saturday.

Boss Dean Shiels will help out Caley Thistle, with plenty still on the line for the Northern Irish Premiership strugglers too.

Dungannon finished second from the bottom of their league. They are preparing for a two-legged play-off with Warrenpoint as they bid to stay in the top flight.

An Inverness statement read: "Ahead of the Scottish Cup Final against Celtic on Saturday June 3rd, we’re delighted to announce we will face Dungannon Swifts in a friendly at Stangmore Park this Saturday away from home.

"Admission for the game will be £5 per person for anyone wishing to attend the match.

"We’ll have the usual social media coverage of the game on the official ICTFC social media feeds and website."

Billy Dodds said recently: "We'll be taking some time off, we've a month to go and we've had a challenging season.

"So we have got to peak them again. then we will be staring to get back to work in a week's time.

"We will turn the legs, try to get a couple of games and prepare for the final correctly."

Meanwhile, this is the moment that Jason Cummings celebrated learning of Rangers' win over Celtic at the weekend.

Michael Beale's side got one over the Scottish champions at Ibrox with a resounding 3-0 win on their own patch.

Goals from Todd Cantwell, John Souttar and Fashion Sakala rounded off the win for the Light Blues.

A packed-out Ibrox celebrated in the sun, as the Gers team sent all of their supporters around the country and the world crazy.

And one of their former players Down Under was certainly delighted by the result.
