Former Pro Bowl safety Donte Whitner offered an extremely blunt assessment of Dak Prescott after the Cowboys’ 42-10 loss to the 49ers on Sunday night.
Prescott, who was seeking to redeem himself against San Francisco after throwing two interceptions in a 19-12 loss to the 49ers in a divisional playoff game last season, was out of sync Sunday. He completed 14 of 24 passes for 153 yards with one touchdown pass and three interceptions. He also took three sacks.
Whitner, who like Prescott is a two-time Pro Bowler, said on NBC Bay Area’s 49ers postgame show that Prescott is terrible at his job.
“Dak Prescott sucks, period. … The 49ers defense made him look like a tier-four quarterback,” Whitner said.
Manzano: Cowboys’ Loss to 49ers Was the Sort of Defeat That Sticks With a Team
Ahead of Sunday’s game, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told reporters that the matchup against the 49ers was a “measuring stick” against a team he feels is the NFC’s leading Super Bowl contender. Now, after the Cowboys’ loss, Dallas (3-2) will seek to bounce back in its Week 6 road matchup Sunday against the Chargers.
