Furious Ex On The Beach star Declan Doyle was left sickened by “disgusting” hotel staff who forced him to prove his daughter was related to him.
The star regularly shares his 11-year-old daughter on social media, and snaps on his Instagram show them at premieres and events, as well as luxury holidays around the world.
But he was shocked while on holiday in the Dominican Republic with his daughter, when approached by hotel staff who asked him personal questions.
Declan took to his Instagram Stories, and posted a scathing message about the troubling encounter in the hotel.
“Disgusted by @riuhotels @tuiuk just had to prove my daughter is mine with our passports because we have ‘different skin colours,’” he fumed.
“Even though we gave our passports on check in, the hotel manager said she’s an underage girl with a man it’s odd and we look like a couple and we don’t look alike,” Declan added.
The reality star was upset as the conversation had happened in front of his daughter, and he said holiday company TUI had moved the pair to another hotel following the complaint.
“I asked if he would do this if it was a single mum and her daughter and he said no,” he stated.
In a statement to The Sun, a spokesperson said they were “extremely sad” to hear about Declan’s experience, and they have “zero tolerance for discrimination”.
“We immediately moved them from their 4-star hotel to an alternative 5-star resort where support is available for them,” they added, stating that TUI are now “investigating the incident”.
Declan spoke to the publication about the appalling incident, and said they asked to go to the manager’s office while they were eating breakfast.
“When we got in to see the manager there wasn’t even an apology, he was very hostile and said ‘can you give me your passports to prove she’s your daughter,’” he recalled.
“He said he was watching hotel videos and we looked really odd and that she was an underage girl and I was an older man… I don’t know what he thought in his head,” Declan fumed.
He said he had “never been treated like that before” at a hotel, and told the manager it was “disgraceful” he was being asked to prove he as the father of his daughter while she was in the same room.
“She doesn’t need to hear people questioning whether I’m her dad. She already knows we’re different skin colours but for it to be brought to her attention is sickening,” Declan raged.
