Ex-officer jailed for ‘savage’ double murder in Ilford during drunken celebration of Russian New Year

A former Georgian police officer has been jailed for at least 35 years for the “savage” and “premeditated” murder of two friends in London during a drunken celebration of the Russian New Year.

Vepkhvia Laliashivili, 53, who had worked for the Georgian ministry of internal affairs before moving to the UK in 2005, fatally stabbed Lithuanians Dainius Kulboka, 44, and Jonas Semenas, 45.
