Ex-NBAer Gilbert Arenas says the Boston Celtics aren’t any better than last season

Former NBAer Gilbert Arenas took a look at the Boston Celtics‘ lineup used to start their 2023-24 season against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden, emphasizing the need for a more balanced scoring attack. He pointed out that the team lacks a traditional point guard, and their starting guards do not provide sufficient scoring or playmaking.

Arenas suggests that the Celtics should consider employing bigger lineups with two conventional big men, like veteran forward Al Horford and star Latvian big man Kristaps Porzingis, for a more competitive edge. Agent 0 — as Arenas is sometimes called — underscored the importance of versatile big men in successful NBA teams who can both stretch the floor and play effective defense.

To hear Arenas’ qualms with the new-look Celtics, take a look at the clip embedded below from a recent episode of his “Gil’s Arena” podcast.
