Angel Gomes has sent his congratulations to boxer Marc Leach following his momentous title victory on Friday night.
The former Manchester United playmaker heaped praise on his fellow Salfordian after he captured the vacant British super-bantamweight title on Friday in a points victory over the previously undefeated Chris Bourke at Bethnal Green's York Hall. It was a gruelling and hard-hitting contest that went the distance before Leach was crowned the winner, with a final scorecard of 117-111, 116-113 and 116-112.
Leach has come in for plenty of adulation after his excellent performance and Gomes has been quick to offer his own. "@march_leach the whole of Salford is with you!" he tweeted. You’ve done the estate proud, what a performance !! #Salford."
