Arthur Melo could return to the Premier League this summer, with the Brazilian thought to want another move to stay in English football despite a disastrous season with Liverpool.
The Brazilian joined the Reds on loan from Juventus last summer, with a big reputation having previously won la Liga with Barcelona and the Copa America for Brazil. However, injury meant he played just once for Jurgen Klopp, with just 13 minutes of first-team action as a substitute in September's 4-1 away defeat to Napoli in the Champions League.
Surgery in October meant that the 26-year-old was sidelined for four months, facing an uphill struggle on his return to convince Klopp of his form and fitness in the crucial closing stages of the season. Despite this disappointment, the 22-times capped Brazilian is thought to be eyeing a Premier League return.
According to the Daily Mail, Arthur is believed to have his sights set on two Premier League clubs, with the unnamed pair believed to be offering him a potential lifeline. This comes as he returns to Juventus, with his contract expiring in 2025, after Liverpool failed to trigger a reported €37.5m clause to make the deal permanent.
Arthur's arrival last summer came as he was recovering from an injury before the larger setback in the form of surgery came in October. The player's agent Federico Pastorello outlined his client's struggles in an interview back in March.
“The last day of the transfer market arrived, and he paid for the season in which he played little at Juventus, he was integrating and had an annoying injury for which he had to operate,” Pastorello told Tuttomercatoweb.
“It was three months of injury, he made his second bench, I hope he can at least give his contribution. I think he’ll come back from the loan and then we’ll see what to do.”
Despite his Champions League appearance, Arthur did not play a single Premier League minute, with just seven appearances on the bench as an unused substitute. He still expressed his positive feelings towards the club, with an interview last month detailing his optimism despite a tough season.
“Next season I see it with good eyes," he told GOAL. "It will be decisive in my career and I am working very well. I'm looking forward to showing this new version of Arthur.
"Hopefully I have an option to say goodbye in Liverpool by playing something. To say goodbye to my team-mates, the technical committee and the fans, who have been very good to me.”
He continued: “Since I arrived, Klopp has treated me really well. It is an honour for me to work with Jurgen. He is one of the best coaches in the world, he has always spoken well of me, he is someone incredible and the treatment has always been really good, elegant and special."
