After scoring just one touchdown in their last 41 offensive drives with Zach Wilson at quarterback, the New York Jets are making a change. Wilson has been benched for former Lions reserve QB, Tim Boyle.
Boyle spent the 2021 season as Detroit’s primary backup quarterback behind Jared Goff. He wound up starting three games for the Lions, throwing six INTs while losing all three. Boyle, now 29, was cut at the end of the 2022 preseason after an uninspiring offseason in Detroit.
After signing with the Bears for 2022, Boyle followed his old Green Bay mentor, Aaron Rodgers, to the Jets for 2023. Boyle replaced Wilson in the Jets’ loss to the Bills in Week 11 and will keep the job despite completing just seven of his 14 pass attempts and throwing an INT.
