Cross another name off the list of potential backups behind starting quarterback Jared Goff. Josh Dobbs, who spent some of 2022 on the Lions’ practice squad, is signing with the Cleveland Browns.
Dobbs came to Detroit from Cleveland after the Brown waived him to activate Deshaun Watson. The 28-year-old Dobbs spent three weeks on the Lions practice squad before being signed to the active roster of the Tennessee Titans. Dobbs quickly supplanted rookie Malik Willis as the replacement starter and played well enough to consider as a full-time backup.
He’s the latest in a rapidly dwindling group of potential reserve QBs to sign with a team. The Lions currently have Goff as the only quarterback on the 90-man roster.
