Ex-Leeds United star questions 'bizarre' Javi Gracia decision amid Sam Allardyce 'dice roll' claim

Former Leeds United defender Danny Mills has called Sam Allardyce's expected appointment to replace Javi Gracia 'one last roll of the dice' by the owners to keep his old club in the Premier League.

The 68-year-old has been heavily linked with taking over at Elland Road following the 4-1 defeat to Bournemouth over the weekend, with the Spaniard expected to leave the club soon.

Gracia has only been in the job for ten weeks after replacing American Jesse Marsch, who in turn replaced Marcelo Bielsa back in February last year, meaning Allardyce would be Leeds' fourth manager in the last 15 months - and the third in the last three.

"It's a little bit bizarre isn't it really?" Mills said on Sky Sports News. "So many teams are changing their managers not once but twice now or are certainly looking to do that.

"It's a strange one and it just shows that if it does happen, which it looks like it will very very soon, then they got the Javi Gracia appointment completely wrong.

"They had no plan when they sacked Jesse Marsch and didn't know who would come in next. It hasn't particularly worked, there's been some heavy defeats and now they're hitting the big red panic button for the second time.

"When you're fighting down in the bottom of the table, it's about picking up a point here and a point there. Leeds haven't even looked like doing that which is why they're looking at Sam Allardyce and thinking: 'He can get us out of this situation'.

"Look at what Neil Warnock has done at Huddersfield - that's what this needs. It's desperate times, desperate measures and it's one last throw of the dice for Leeds United."
