Ex-Hibs star Liam Henderson and the career ambition he wants to share with brother Ewan

Ex-Hibs star Liam Henderson has shared his dream ambition to star alongside his younger brother Ewan – in Dark Blue.

The Scottish Cup winning Hibee is currently plying his trade in Serie A for Empoli and wants to line up with his brother one day in the Scotland national team. The pair once shared a training pitch together at Celtic but never starred in the Hoops' top team at the same time. Ewan, 22, has followed in the footsteps of his older brother by joining the Easter Road outfit after penning a permanent switch from Ange Postecoglou's side in the summer.

And his older brother, 26, admits he is forever watching over his younger sibling from Tuscany, Italy where he tunes into Hibs TV to watch the midfielder star for the Edinburgh club. The former Hibs and Celtic midfielder appeared on Graham Hunter’s ‘Big Interview’ podcast where he admitted he’d love to form a Hampden Henderson engine room for the national side.

The Hibs hero said: “I get nerves before games but the most nervous I get is when I watch Ewan play. When I’m watching him on the iPad on Hibs TV I can’t speak to anybody. I don’t know how my dad feels, having to watch my wee brother first and then me after.

"But I have [a chemistry] with my younger brother. We had a few training sessions together in the first team at Celtic which was amazing.

"The only thing I want to do now is play with him in the same team. Hopefully for Scotland. That’s what he’s saying too, so fingers crossed for that.”

Liam is yet to receive a senior call-up for Steve Clarke’s Scotland squad but won 37 combined caps at age-grade level.

But he has backed himself to return to the Hampden pitch where his heroics helped Hibs banish their Scottish Cup hoodoo by beating Rangers 3-2 in 2016 and has called on the national team boss to come out to watch him star against Serie A’s big guns.

He added: "It would mean the world to me to play for Scotland. When you start playing football you dream about playing for your national team.”

"I feel like I should at least be considered, maybe even have already made a few squads – but maybe I need to start scoring some more goals.

“There’s so much more I can improve in my game. I’m still relatively young, I’m still learning, and there’s a lot I can improve on.

"I’d love to play for Scotland and I hope Steve Clarke can come out and watch a few games. It would be amazing to come home and play at Hampden.”

Liam has admitted he wants Hibs to lift the Cup again but before Ewan joined he didn't want to see them win it for another hundred years after becoming an Easter Road legend.

He said: "I hope Hibs win the cup again with my brother but before he went there, I didn’t want them to win it for another hundred years

Liam also revealed serially hitting 30 corners every Friday for a year in the lead up to the famous Scottish Cup win.

His pinpoint accuracy helped David Gray fire home the winner in an iconic moment two minutes into stoppage time, as Hibs got over the line for the first time in 114 years.

He added: "Was it fate that it came down to those two corners? I couldn’t have placed them better with my hand.”
