After he “parted ways” with the New York Giants following a blow-up with head coach Brian Daboll, former defensive coordinator Wink Martindale received moderate interest around the league.
Despite that, Martindale was unable to land a defensive coordinator job ahead of the 2024 season. But that doesn’t mean he won’t be on a sideline this year.
Although Martindale didn’t land an NFL job, he is now “on the radar” for a job with the defending National Champion Michigan Wolverines.
In addition to Joe Cullen, another NFL coach on the radar as a person of interest for the Michigan defensive coordinator job is ex-Ravens and Giants DC Wink Martindale, sources tell @247sports.

As Matt Zenitz notes, Michigan also has their eyes on Kansas City Chiefs defensive line coach Joe Cullen.
Following Jim Harbaugh’s departure to the Los Angeles Chargers, Michigan hired Sherrone Moore as their next head coach. And while he has no cross-over with Martindale, he is seeking to fill out his staff with experienced and successful veteran coaches.
Notable, Martindale is familiar with Cullen as the two spent three years in Baltimore together. And it’s entirely possible the Wolverines attempt to hire both.
It could be argued that the Michigan defensive coordinator position is one of the most high-profile jobs in the entire country right now.
